The Project: The existing hardwood deck, stairs and balustrades were built in the early ‘80’s and in extremely poor condition. Rotten and missing boards, stairs collapsing, certainly a safety hazard as well as an eyesore.

Client Wanted: The client lives in Sydney with only an initial meeting on site with David Houston.

Our Solution: Replace rotten hardwood deck, stairs & balustrades to current Australian building codes and council regulations using Kiln dried hardwood framing and Merbau timber decking, posts and balustrades. On completion the timber was given a water based deck oil finish. All communication on progress of the job was by constant email of photos and updates.

The Result: A pleasing usable hardwood deck with stairs and railing, making valuable use of the area for entertaining and relaxing overlooking a reserve and park.

To whom it may concern, I live in Sydney and I own a property in Coffs Harbour which I have rented for a number of years. The timber deck needed replacing and I was given HOUSTON CONSTRUCTIONS by my letting agent. I drove up from Sydney and I rang David Houston and arranged to meet him to quote on the deck.

I met him on site at the time arranged and he measured the job and said he would have a quote the following day. He took me to two of the jobs he was working on and I was quite impressed at the quality of work and the customer service he provided to me. I drove back to Sydney and was pleased that I had met David Houston and I had my mind made up as to who I wanted to build the deck. David did email me the quote as promised and I gave the job to him although I did get another contractor to quote.

He sent me a contract, I signed it and sent it back. He said he would give me photos of the progress, which he did. He sent invoices through, which I paid and could not of been happier with HOUSTON CONSTRUCTION.

I would recommend HOUSTON CONSTRUCTION to anyone, David was punctual , courteous, tidy, efficient, and worked in with the tenant and the job was approved by the council inspector who was very impressed.
